‘An Institution of forestry’

Sir,
This is in reference to the article ‘An Institution of forestry’ published in your newspaper dated 01/03/2020 by Raja Muzaffar Bhat. I have been following writeups of Dr. Raja Muzaffar Bhat. His topics on ecology and environment are quite absorbing. Perhaps his profession is his inspiration and honestly speaking he is a rare intellect who can teach people on the subject in most simple and understandable language. His concern for preservation of nature and its resources, his quest for maintaining harmony between man and nature is visible from his urge for pursuing people to understand the importance of healthy water bodies. He has been working tirelessly for keeping the stream and streamlets alive. He has made efforts in pursuing people not to dump dirt and filth in such lifelines. Very few intellectuals in Kashmir have bothered about saving forests and forest wealth for future generations. Dr. Muzaffar is perhaps the only person to drive our attention to such a noble cause. As a worthy pupil, his adoration for his mentor, Mr. OP Sharma should really be appreciated.
He introduces him as a guiding spirit, a veteran naturalist, an eminent forester and above all, the most honest government servant. Mr. Sharma, an ex-Principal conservator of forest has immensely contributed to the preservation of forests and forest produce with both medicinal and edible values. It gives immense pleasure to find people drawn towards jadi booties and wild vegetations namely ‘woppal hakh’, ‘hand’, ‘machran’ and ‘soyee’ by none other than Mr. OP Sharma who is introduced to us by his most illustrious pupil, Dr. Raja.
