Among other measures SMC to construct fountains for green Srinagar

SRINAGAR : The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) among other things will construct fountains at different road crossings for ” Green City”.
This information was given by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who, also holds the portfolio of Housing and Urban Development Department in reply to a question by Shamim Firdous, a National Coference (NC) member from Habba Kadal constituency.
The Minister was asked whether the government state whether it plans to make Srinagar as a Green City and the initiatives taken so far in this behalf. The reply said that that it is a fact that SMC is trying to develop Srinagar City as Green and Clean city.
For this purpose a lot of measures are being initiated which included proper and hygienic disposal of garbage, construction of fountains at different road crossings as well as at prominent places.
However, for the current year a proper provision has been kept under AMRUT for development of parks in the Srinagar city.
The reply said that in future the SMC contemplates to develop a number of green spaces and plantation strips. Besides, SMC is in the process of developing all Municipal parks. (AGENCIES)
