Amnesty scheme will help Govt in making recovery of hundreds of crores of rupees: Nitish

JAMMU, Sept 18: Nitish Mahajan, UT Executive Member Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir said that amnesty scheme will help the Government in making recovery of hundreds of crores of rupees even after waiving off interest and surcharge.
In a statement, he impressed upon the eligible power consumers to immediately avail the benefit of this scheme.
The senior BJP leader stated that this once again shows the commitment and concern of the Govt towards the common people of this Union Territory who are yet struggling to come out of the trauma of terrorism and Covid-19 pandemic. He asserted that as per data available more than 5.50 lakh domestic power consumers will get benefitted by this amnesty scheme.
He said that the UT Administration realizing the difficulties of the common people who were unable to avail the benefits of previous scheme due to COVID-19 pandemic, finally rolled out this amnesty scheme through the Administrative Council decision.
The BJP leader alerted the amnesty eligible power consumers about the repercussions of not availing the scheme asserting that those who still fail to clear the dues under the scheme will have to make full payment of principal amount with interest and surcharge besides facing legal action. Moreover, the Power Department will disconnect the power supply to such consumers, he said adding that people must come forward to avail this scheme which is in the interest of the government as well as the consumers.
