Arnia firing case

JAMMU, Nov 9: Police recovered large quantity of ammunition and sharp edged weapons from the houses of cops involved in recently registered firing case.
As per police sources, during search, special police teams’ recovered ammunition including double barrel and shot guns viz sharp edged weapons from the houses of suspended cops namely SgCt Bhopinder Singh of Chak Mohammad Yaar RS Pura District Jammu and SgCt Sadeeq, a resident of Salehar Tehsil RS Pura District Jammu, who were found involved in firing case registered at Police Station Arnia under FIR Number 77/2021 under Sections 302, 307, 3/25 Arms Act and 4/25 Arms Act.
“Some indiscriminatory materials were also recovered during the searches”, police sources said, adding that the licences of the weapons are being examined.
It is pertinent to mention here that on November 5 this year, two persons were shot dead and two were critically wounded in village Salehar of Arnia when two cops identified as Sgct Bhopinder Singh, a resident of Chak Mohammad Yaar, Tehsil RS Pura opened fire on four assailants in self defence. Later, one more assailant succumbed to his injuries while being shifting to hospital in Ludhiana. One of the injured is still undergoing treatment and his condition is stated to be out of danger.
Sources said that one AK-47 rifle was found in a hideout in bordering Arnia belt on the disclosure of the wife of one of the absconding cops.
“The weapon has been seized as it was found used in Arnia firing case. A lady namely Janu Bano, wife of suspended SgCt Sadeeq, a resident of Salehar Tehsil RS Pura was also arrested as she had kept the weapon of offence in a hideout”, sources said, adding that she was also providing logistic support to the absconding cops.
Meanwhile, police sources informed that multiple teams are conducting raids in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring States to nab the absconding cops.
