IMPHAL (Manipur), Dec 27 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah today hailed the development in Northeast during the six years of the Modi Government. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a very high priority to the North Eastern Region and was personally following up every issue with great sensitivity and concern.
Addressing a mammoth public rally here today, Amit Shah referred to the regular visits by Union Ministers to different North Eastern States and also appreciated DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh for his work to enable Northeast to fully intermingle with the rest of India. He lauded Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his effective administration which has enabled Manipur to come out of a long spell of blockades, insurgency and Bandhs.
Amit Shah said, the demand for Inner Line Permit (ILP) had been made by the people of Northeast for decades together and finally they had given up when they knew there was no response from the earlier governments. It was on the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, that the Inner Line Permit system has been implemented in Manipur also on the same line as in the surrounding States of the region.
While laying the Foundation Stones for several Development Projects and inaugurating the e-office of the Manipur State, Amit Shah said, all these initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment towards the development of the Northeast region. He said, today there is a network of roads and the Health and Education Sectors have been given a huge imputus.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, in the first six years of the Modi government Northeast had emerged as a development model for the country and in the last six months it has emerged as a COVID management model as the different surveys have hailed North Eastern States as being among the best performing States in Corona management. He attributed all this to the support and patronage from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had undertaken more than forty visits to the Northeast in the last six years.
