SRINAGAR, July 8: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and incharge J&K affairs of the party, Ambika Soni today reviewed overall situation of the State with the senior PCC members.
The meeting of senior functionaries’ and leaders including Legislators of Congress Party was held here today in which AICC general secretary was the chief guest. It was presided over by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president GA Mir.
AICC leader reviewed the organizational affairs and activities of the Party and also reviewed the current situation in the State.
The PCC chief and others apprised the AICC leader of the ongoing activities of the organization in three regions of the State and also discussed the current political scenario and overall situation prevailing in the State.
PCC president briefed Ms Soni about the party affairs and the activities including the progress on membership drive in all three regions of the State and conveyed the appreciable response and interest of the Party leaders and workers and people in most parts of the State. The meeting also expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the Kashmir valley and the “total failure” of the State and the Centre Governments during the past two and half years to restore normalcy.
The State Government has utterly failed on all fronts and the policies of the present dispensations have further worsened the situation at the grass-root level and the people are facing great hardships in view of the prevailing situation.
The meeting was apprised that State Government is unable to reach out to the people at the grass root level to address the basic necessities and redress the grievances of the people and there is no governance at all. The State and Central Governments continued to maintain their insensitive approach towards the grievances of the common people who are facing the brunt of the situation.
AICC leader was also apprised about the approach of the PDP-BJP Government towards the issue of implementation of GST in the State and said the chaos, confusion and delay in the implementation of the GST in the State was due to the confusion and contradiction amongst the coalition partners regarding the mode of its implementation.
Among others present in the meeting included former PCC president Peerzada Mohd Syed, CLP Leader Nawang Rigzin Jora, former Minister Taj Mohi-ud- Din, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Mula Ram, G.M.Saroori, Gulam Nabi Monga, Haji Abdul Rashid, Ravinder Sharma, Abdul Majid Wani,Shabir Ahmad Khan, Shah Mohd Chowdhary, SS Channi, Hilal Ahmad Shah, Shameema Iqbal, Indu Pawar, Viqar Rasool Wani, Usman Majid, Asgar Ali Karbalai, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Mohd Amin Bhat, Mohd Akram, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Naresh Gupta, Th Balbir Singh, Rani Gargi Billoria and Sham Lal Bhagat.
