SRINAGAR:Pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine situated at 13,500 feet in south Kashmir Himalayas has been suspended from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks due to heavy rain.
Yesterday, 16,410 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine. With this, a total of 1,21,328 pilgrims had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam at the cave shrine since the commencement of the 59-day-long yatra from July 2.
A yatra official told that yatra has been suspended from both base camps as the tracks have become slippery.
No yatri was allowed to proceed towards towards the cave shrine, he said, adding that pilgrims, who had night halt near the shrine, were stopped there. Decision to resume yatra will be taken only after improvement in the weather, he said. (AGENCIES)
