JAMMU : The Amarnath Yatra was suspended for the second consecutive day today due to closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the wake of a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Udhampur district in the state.
“Amarnath Yatra was suspended for the second consecutive day today. Due to heavy rains, a massive landslide closed the 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Kheri in Udhampur district on Friday night,” a police officer said.
The authorities have suspended the Yatra from Jammu base camp for second day today, he said.
The men and machines of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are working to clear the debris from landslide and the highway is expected to reopen by this evening, he said.
The highway is being cleared and over 400 vehicles have been stranded, he said, adding, it will reopen by this evening. (AGENCIES)
