Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a workers’ meet held at party headquarters in Srinagar, Mufti expressed concerns over escalating communal tensions, the targeting of Muslim shops in various regions, forced evictions in Uttarakhand, and religiously motivated incidents of violence. “In such a challenging environment, Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Kashmir, has consistently promoted the message of communal harmony,” she said.
She emphasized that the Amarnath Yatra serves as a golden opportunity for Kashmir to showcase the true essence of ‘Kashmiriyat’ to the entire nation. “In order to ensure seamless assistance to the Yatris, I called workers from Ganderbal and Anantnag to provide necessary instructions for the upcoming Yatra, aiming to maintain their tradition of wholeheartedly welcoming and supporting the esteemed guests,” she said.
Mehbooba urged all party workers to actively contribute to the success of the Yatra and extend their support to the Yatris in any way possible. She also requested the government take measures to prevent inconveniences faced by local residents during the facilitation of the Yatra. “In previous years, we have witnessed situations where patients, especially expectant mothers, were unable to reach hospitals on time, resulting in tragic outcomes. It is crucial that the travel arrangements for the Yatra vehicles do not disrupt the daily lives of the local residents,” she said.
