JAMMU, Dec 28: Amar Singh Club, Jammu, today elected its new Executive Committee members for the year 2015-16.
The new Executive members include Vijay Saraf, Anil Kapahi, Anil Gupta, Naresh Gupta (Tony), Sweesh Anand, Karan Kapoor, Narinder Singh Chahal, Siddharth Mehta, Advocate Vishal Abrol, Arvind Mahajan and Dr Navindu Raizada.
Seventeen candidates contested the elections and total 1355 votes were polled while 13 of them were declared as invalid.
Vijay Saraf remained on top by securing 1123 votes. He was followed by Anil Kapahi and Anil Gupta, who were polled 1064 and 1021 votes, respectively. Naresh Gupta (Tony) secured 986 votes, Sweesh Anand 942, Karan Kapoor 930, Narinder Singh Chahal 925, Siddharth Mehta 878, Advocate Vishal Abrol 875, Arvind Mahajan 856 and Dr Navindu Raizada was polled 831 votes.
The remaining six candidates, who could not get elected, included Rajesh Gupta (821 votes), Ashu Goyal (793), Harinder Mahajan (742), Kangan Bhagotra (732), Sandeep Gupta (727) and Er Rakesh Kr Gupta (516).
The Returning Officer and outgoing Secretary of the Club, Siddharth Sharma officially declared the result late this evening.
Earlier, Annual General Body Meeting of the Amar Singh Club was held under the chairmanship of Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, who is Vice-President of the Club.
A large number of members attended the AGM in which many important decisions for smooth functioning of the Club were taken. The outgoing Secretary Siddharth Sharma apprised the house about the progress made in the recent past, especially with addition of new family lounge and central court yard.
