JAMMU, Apr 4: After hectic efforts the Miran Sahib Police has managed to arrest the driver of an Alto car who had been responsible for a road mishap in the area on March 5 in which one cyclist was killed on spot.
However after the accident the car fled from the spot without caring for the cyclist or surrendering before the police. The people had resorted to strong protest and blocked the road in the area. The Miran Sahib Police has registered a case FIR 32 of 2015 in this connection but the arrest of the driver was elusive as his whereabouts and the number of car was not known.
According to police the eye witness narrated confusing number of the Alto while some said that it was JK02AB, 3335, some said that it was JK02BA,3335 and some said that it was JK02AF,3335. However a team of police led by SHO Miran Sahib, Mohammed Iqbal Chagatta under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Divinder Singh and SP HQ Randhir Singh and on the directives of SSP Jammu Uttam Chand started thorough investigation in the case.
The police seized three Alto cars bearing number JK02BA, 3335, JK2AB, 3335 and JK02AF, 3335 and put them under sustained questioning.
Police said that the statements of all three drivers were taken and their call details were also checked. Besides, the services of FSL were also taken to trace the driver and the alto car as there was no scratch on the car about the accident. During the investigation the driver of Alto JK02BA,3335 Gulzar Ahmed son of Nizam-ud-Din of Ranjan, Bhalwal Jammu confessed that the cyclist was hit by his car.
