SRINAGAR, Sept 8: As a part of Government’s endeavour to further strengthen the functioning of Forest Department and its allied wings, the Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf has directed the officers to refer all the vacancies to the concerned recruitment agencies for filling up these posts on fast-track basis.
Chairing a high-level meeting of officers held here last evening, the Minister reviewed the functioning of various wings and status of vacant posts. He exhorted upon the officers to personally monitor the process of recruitment for the early filling of these posts so that the deficiency of manpower was overcome. He urged upon the officers to make the process of referring the vacancies to the concerned recruitment bodies immediately after they fall vacant.
The Minister directed the heads of Pollution Control Board and Forest Protection Force to accomplish the process of recruitment rules to ensure transparency in their organizations in a time bound manner. He asked the officers to fix the responsibility for delay in framing the rules, adding that no organization can accomplish its legitimate task without proper rules and regulations, therefore the process of framing the rules should be finished immediately.
The Minister was apprised that against a total vacancy of 1624 posts of different categories (gazetted/non-gazetted) in allied wings, 1320 posts have already been referred to PSC/SSRB, whereas rest will be referred at the earliest.
Commissioner/Secretary Forest, Sheikh Aijaz Iqbal and heads of different wings of the department were present in the meeting.
