JAMMU, June 4: Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) appealed to the leaders of DPs/refugees to only highlight their own demands and allow the DPs of 1947 from PoK to represent their own case.
In a statement, Gurdev Singh, president, JKSAC said that DPs of 1947 from PoK had entered this part of State barefooted, with empty pockets and even most of them had no clothing on their bodies. He further said that DPs of 1947 from PoK have a unique case having entirely different circumstances that cannot be compared with other categories of DPs/refugees who suffered either no loss or very insignificant material and physical loss.
Singh termed the proposed package of Rs 7000 crores being drafted by State Government and sent to Cabinet Sub-Committee for further consideration as one time settlement for various categories of DPs/refugees as unjustified, illogical and highly discriminatory so far as DPs of 1947 from PoK are concerned.
He appealed to Revenue Minister, Chairman Cabinet Sub-Committee/State Government to re-draft the package after taking the leaders of DPs of PoK into consideration.
