SRINAGAR, Apr 17: Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) today expressed concern over the recent order issued by the District Administration Srinagar regarding the installation of CCTV cameras at all shops in the city and said that the shopkeepers cannot bear the expenses of the installation of the same.
KTMF president, Shahid Hussain Mir and Patron Mohammad Sadiq Baqal said that the federation has received several representations from various market associations of the city regarding the said order.
“The shopkeepers are not in a position to install the surveillance systems in their business establishments as the system costs from Rs. 20000 to 30000 which they cannot afford,” KTMF said.
It said that due to the recent lockdown, the business community is already in losses and this is not the right time for them to invest a sum that they cannot afford.
“It would be a good option if the Government itself will install the surveillance systems in all the markets and as in the past the Government has installed them at various vital points of the city,” KTMF said.
