JAMMU, July 16: All J&K Transport Welfare Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of TS Wazir in which presidents of All Commercial Transport Association were present.
All the transporters expressed resentment towards the attitude of the Central Government which is increasing the rate of petroleum products day by day.
They said that the rate of diesel was Rs 80 per litre when the passenger fare was revised and now the rate of diesel is Rs 95 per litre which is not bearable by the transporters of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We have submitted representation in the office of Transport Commissioner and demanded 30 per cent hike in passenger fare, whereas J&K Administration is not allowing us to carry 100 per cent full capacity seats in intra district”, the transporters said.
We have also demanded for waive off of token tax, passenger tax, interest and insurance during the period of the lockdown for one year at par with Punjab which has waived off taxes for the period of one year, the transporters added.
While speaking, TS Wazir said that they are not interested to take agitational path, but the Government is enforcing them to do so.
He request Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take necessary steps to resolve all the problems of the transporters on priority basis. Wazir also request for some valuable time for a high level transporters meet.
