All India Devotional Song Competition begins at Katra

KATRA, Oct 6:  As a part of the Navratra Festival, All India Devotional Song Competition began at Yog Ashram Complex here this evening.
The event was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand Ji Maharaj and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Tara Singh in the presence of Additional SP, Katra, Pawan Parihar, Deputy SP, Rajinder  Katoch and others.
In the preliminary round of competition, Yasir Hussain from Punjab and Balwant Raj from Udhampur jointly shared 1st position, Rajeev Kumar Salotra from Jammu was adjudged 2nd and the 3rd position was held by Sanamdeep Singh from Jammu, among the 15 auditioned participants in which eight participants were from outside the State and seven from within the State. The winners of preliminary round were provided with the cash prizes of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000, respectively.
The competition was adjudged by the panels of experts in music including Anupama Sharma, Professor of Music, Degree College Parade (Jammu), Dr Usha Bhagati, Ex HoD Music, many Degree Colleges including PG MAM College Jammu and Darbari Lal Kaswalia, former Station Director, All India Radio.
The grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be held on October 12, 2013 and winner will be awarded with Rs 100000, Gold coin of Goddess and a recording contract with Venus Records & Tapes Ltd.
The proceeding of competition was conducted by Rakesh Wazir, who is also the chairman of the said competition besides member, Navratra Festival Committee.
The competition is being organised by SMVD Shrine Board and State Tourism Department with active support of Zee News, Zee Jagran,MH Shardha, Disha Channel, 92.7  Big FM, J&K Bank, Nideesh Builders Private Limited Jammu, Jai Mata Di Sewa Sangh Prasadi, District Administration, Katra Municipality and the local host community.
Moreover, contestants who stood 1st in the preliminary round will directly join the Grand Finale and 3rd position holders will again contest among themselves in semi final on    October 11 to qualify for Grand Finale.

Meanwhile, Katra Culture club organized “5th Kavi-Sammellan-cum-Felicitation function at Bus Stand Katra.
Krishan Lal, Genaral Manager, District Reasi Industries, was the chief guest on the occasion while Rajinder Paul, Executive Engineer, PWD Division, was the guest of honour.
The star attractions of the Kavi Sammelan were Jagjeet Sufi and Balram Saini from Ambala who stole the show with their mesmeric poems and their style of recital. They kept the audiences spellbound by their talent.
The chief guest felicitated Dr Harsh Sharma with the Best Physician Citation for his best medical services to the society. The children of class 8th, 10th and 12th who topped in Reasi district in respective classes were also felicitated.
The other poets who recited their poems in the Kavi-Sammelan include Vijay Kumar, Anita Mehta, Vishan Dass Agaria, Raj Kumar Bhaga, Sunita Kumari, Surinder Singh Manhas, Randhir Singh Raipuri, Dr Mohan Lal and Karnal Singh Kamli.
