JAMMU, May 4: A music album titled ‘TISHNAGI’, containing audio tracks of eight Punjabi Gazals written by  Surinder Singh Seerat, a well known Gazal lyricist of J&K State, was released here today.
The Music release function was organized by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Jammu  at  J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages. Surjeet Judge, Shiromani Punjabi poet presided over the function while  Dr  Lalit Magotra was the chief guest on this occasion.
The Compact Disc of these tracks has been produced by  Surinder Seerat. The music for these Gazals has been composed and directed by  Sham Sajan, a prominent singer and music director of J&K State. The Gazals have been sung by  Gursharan Kaur,  Sargam Pant and  Sham Sajan himself.
Welcoming the guests,  Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik said that Mr  Seerat has done a commendable job to promote the musical Gazal culture in Punjabi language.
In his address  Surinder Seerat gave a brief introduction of the process of developments in bringing out this album. He said that it was the impact of  Sham Sajan’s voice that compelled him to record his gazals in  his voice. He said that inspite of his stay in California, he preferred to get the album recorded in Jammu only.
Sham Sajan disclosed on this occasion that only the Indian local musical instruments like flute, sitar, sarangi, rabab, harmonium and tabla etc  were used during the recording of these tracks based on Indian Classical Ragas like Rag Keerwani, Rag Bhairavi, Tilak Kamod, Darbari Kanara, Chorakseed etc  and no synth  music was made use of.
Dr  Manjot highlighted the achievements and contribution of Mr  Seerat in the field of Punjabi Gazal. Major Bhupinder Singh Daler, a Punjabi writer, Dr  Lalit Magotra, Dr  Arvinder Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL also expressed their views.
