RAJOURI, Aug 14: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar visited various schools and Degree College in Thanamandi area to get a first hand appraisal of the working in the educational institutions existing in the area in an endeavour to identify problems and setting up standards to improve the educational system.
During his visit, the Minister took stock of infrastructural and educational facilities and quality of education and learning outcomes.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Rajouri, Qamar Hussain Chaudhary, SSP Rajouri, CEO Rajouri and other senior officers.
En-route, the Minister visited High School Manyal and interacted with students and staff. He inspected the school premises and asked the headmaster to work on improving the teaching standards in the school.
The Minister directed the Chief Education Officer, Rajouri to pay regular visits to schools in his jurisdiction to ensure proper monitoring.
The Minister also visited Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Thanamandi. On the occasion, he announced establishment of a Smart Class Room and a Computer Aided Lab in the school. He urged the concerned for ensuring completion of under construction additional block at the earliest so that the issue of space constraint in the school could be addressed on priority.
Various local delegations called on the Minister during his visit to Shahadra Sharief and apprised him of their problems and issues. He assured them that their grievances would be placed before the concerned quarters for redressal.
Later at Degree College, Thanamandi, the Minister visited the newly started Smart Class Room and interacted with the Principal and faculty members.
Highlighting importance of introduction of job oriented vocational courses in higher educational institutions, the Minister asked the Principal to start vocational courses in certain functional spoken languages that may prove to be useful for the students in the job market and add value to their degrees.
