REASI, July 28: Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, in collaboration with Centre for Advanced Research on Development and Change New Delhi, under the direction of Ministry of Culture, Government of India and aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, organised a programme at DC Office Auditorium Reasi to pay homage to the freedom fighters of Indian Freedom Movement. The programme was organised under the banner of Kranti Teerth which is a series of soulful remembrances of the unsung heroes, organizations and places of India.
In the program, 12 families of the freedom fighters who fought for the independence of the country by serving Neta Ji Subhash Chander Bose’s Indian National Army were honoured.
The State General Secretary of ABRSM Rattan Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Reasi Babila Rakwal and the special guests Padam Shri Vishav Murti Shastri, Dr. Virendra Koundal Professor of Economics, Jammu University and Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Convenor of the Krantiteerth Jammu & Kashmir.
The Deputy Commissioner Reasi, the chief Guest of the programme, said that the land of Jammu Kashmir has always been the land of sacrifices. The patriotic people of Jammu Kashmir have always made supreme sacrifices for the unity, integrity, security and peace of the country and today it is our duty to remember all such heroes and pay them our sincere tribute. She stressed that this program is a great initiative in this direction.
The special guest of the occasion, Padam Shri Vishav Murti Shastri said that PM Modi has launched Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate the 75 years of independence of Bharat and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. He said that this Mahotsav is dedicated to all those people who contributed in bringing the country so far in its evolutionary journey. Prof. Virendra Koundal, the main speaker of the programme said that remembering the great role and sacrifices of the freedom fighters in nation building will always remain a source of inspiration for the coming generations. He highlighted the contribution of Jammu Kashmir in India’s freedom movement and discussed in detail the role of freedom fighters of Jammu Kashmir and the important incidents related to freedom struggle in Jammu Kashmir.
While presiding over the function, Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma said that the fire of patriotism which used to be burnt in the hearts of those revolutionaries and freedom fighters should continue to burn in the hearts of the youth of the country even today so that the youth always remain ready to fight every challenge against our country.
