JAMMU, Apr 23: Kashmiri Displaced Diaspora Front (ADKF) held a meeting today under the chairmanship of Kaka Ji Bhan at Jagti township in Nagrota.
The meeting, while discussing issuance of new ration coupons said departing from previous procedure the Relief Organisation has asked ration card holders to give proof as well. Furthermore card holders working outside Jammu have been asked to collect ration cards personally as no other family member is authorized to collect it.
It said a relief holder working outside will have to spend minimum Rs. 5000 to collect ration card. “We demand that ration card distribution be made simple as migrants have already provided Aadhar numbers of full family and no further proof is needed.
Terming this a harassment, the meeting demanded that the same be stopped. Furthermore Relief Organisation has added some new ration dealers and some of the migrant families were asked collect ration from these dealers irrespective of where card holder resides which is causing a huge inconvenience to them. It demanded that the migrants be allowed to collect ration from the depot holders in their respective zones.
Construction of new shops at Jagti was discussed. The meeting said 120 shops constructed eight years back have not been allotted yet and they are in dilapidated condition. Now the Department has started construction of new shops.
Functioning of Relief Organisation has been effected by pick and choose transfers and adjustments. No criteria has been laid down for these posting, the meeting added.
It demanded enhancement of cash assistance in view of sky rocketing prices. The
Front urged Relief Commissioner to take necessary steps to ensure that harassment to migrants is stopped and they are not compelled to take any drastic step.
Ravi Kumar, Ravinder Raina, Sameer Saproo, Chander Handoo, Ramesh Koul and others participated in the meeting.
