SRINAGAR : A meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Legislative Assembly was held here today under the Chairmanship of legislator Mohammad Akbar Lone to review the functioning of PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control Departments.
Threadbare discussions were held on the observations pointed out by the Comptroller and Auditor Generals Audit Paras pertaining to these Departments.
Legislators, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Shamima Firdous, Javed Mustaffa Mir, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Ravinder Raina, Rajiv Jasrotia, Jeevan Lal and Ghulam Nabi Monga attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to further improve the functioning of the PHE and I&FC.
The meeting also held deliberations on Financial Management, financial liabilities, irregularities in the release of funds, project formulating and planning, unfruitful investment, irregular expenditure, extra cost due to unplanned execution in these Departments.
While discussing the Audit paras regarding the water supply scheme at Maroli district Kathua, the Committee decided to take on spot visit to the site to find out the factual position. The Chairman directed the PHE officials to take up constituency wise allotment of tube wells across the State.
Further, the Committee directed the concerned authorities to submit a detailed report of certain queries raised by the members of the Committee and furnish the same for scrutiny.
Members also sought district wise detailed report of schemes, targets achieved and schemes completed and under completed, so far, in the PHE Department for last two years.
Accountant General, CAG H. Abbas briefed the Committee about the observations given by the CAG in its report regarding the Audit Paras of PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control Departments.
Among others, DG, (A&T), Altaf Hussain, Chief Engineer PHE, Kashmir, G M Bhat, Director Finance, PHE, I&FC, G M Khan, besides Secretary Legislative Assembly, M R Singh, Additional Secretary Legislative Assembly, R. L. Sharma and senior officers, Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
