JAMMU, Sept 2: All J&K Panchayat Conference (AJKPC)-a body of Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members and elected representatives of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) on Thursday jointly announced to play effective opposition to become voice of J&K people.
The announcement was made by J&K president of AJKPC, Anil Sharma in a convention of Panches, Sarpanches, BDCs, DDCs and representatives of ULBs here.
“The government machinery has turned insensitive towards the genuine and day-to-day issues of common masses who have been suffering badly due to criminal silence of opposition parties which has miserably failed to raise issue of common masses,” Sharma said adding that there is a need for every elected representative of rural and ULBs to come on forward and become the voice of people against this anarchy.

“Till now, our role was confined to rural pockets of J&K only but it has become imperative on part of AJKPC to spread its base in urban areas where the people are also facing the same difficulties and hardships as are being faced by the people of rural areas of J&K,” Sharma claimed adding that the elected representatives of ULBs voluntarily came forward under the banner of AJKPC in their mission of lessening public sufferings.
The AJKPC leader claimed that Panches, Sarpanches and BDCs in coordination with the representatives of ULBs would soon launch a decisive battle against mining mafia as the mafia has been ruling the roost in active connivance with officers of mining department.
The AJKPC leader voiced his concern against the threat perception to the elected representatives of rural and ULBs and urged the UT administration to immediately clear the pending files where all such representatives have sought foolproof security cover.
