SRINAGAR, July 5: Seeking redressal of the demands of the daily wager guards and gardeners today All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference held a symbolic protest at Directorate of Rural Development Department Kashmir in Srinagar.
Led by AJKPC members, a large number of guards and gardeners raised slogans against the Government for continued injustice with them. The protesting daily wagers carrying National flag in their hands led by Anil Sharma president of All J&K Panchayat Conference barged into the office chamber of the Director RDD Kashmir and asked the officer to take up the issue with the senior Government functionaries of J&K Government.
The AJKPC president condemned the incumbent Government led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who has failed on all fronts and deprived youth of Kashmir and Jammu of their due right to have dignified source of livelihood.
Sharma said other than giving hollow, fake and false promises this LG headed regime of J&K has not given anything to either of the regions of J&K resulting anger and dissent in the minds of youth who are not provided any source of earning despite having degrees and diplomas.
Sharma also presented a memorandum to Imam Din, Director, RDD Kashmir who gave a consoling hearing to the AJKPC leader and assured him to further communicate their demands to the Government authorities.
The protesting guards -gardeners are demanding regularization of their appointment, release of regular monthly salary and also asking for ensuring their bio-metric attendance, many of these engaged people have now crossed the age criteria for appointment in any other department and serving the RDD for decade and over. Several times, the files related to their full time appointment moved from Directorate to Secretariat and vice versa but on ground nothing happened.
Last month guards and gardeners under the banner of AJKPC had submitted similar memorandum to Director RDD Jammu.
Prominent office bearers of the AJKPC and others who were present during the protest included – Sarpamch Manoj Pandita, Mahesh Dhar, Phoola Raina, Pammi Pandita, Shahnawaz, Mehjur Ahmed, Fiyaz Ahmed, Ahamdullah, Mohd Yousuf, Bashir Ahmed and others.
