SRINAGAR, May 30: All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation, affiliated with Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasangh, has raised its concerns over promotion issues which have caused at least of thousands posts vacant across the Jammu Kashmir. Moreover, the transfer process has also been delayed along with the promotion process.
Speaking to media, here today, Devraj Thakur, State President All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation demanded that transfer orders be issued now, even though they are implemented later.
“Several years after their last general transfer, teachers in Jammu- Kashmir are worried that any further delay on the part of the State Government in publishing the final transfer list may scupper this year’s transfers,” he said.
“The authorities have informed teachers that the general transfers will be implemented only before commencing new session and after the examinations to be completed by April end. However, teachers point out that transfers in other cadres under the department such as Principals, lectures and headmasters have been done by this year while only Masters and teachers are being made to suffer,” Thakur added.
Thakur said that AJKLTF has been pressing for time-bound implementation of the general transfers this year, and the next year’s transfers to be carried out by March so that disruptions faced by teachers and their families on account of mid-year transfers are avoided.
“Masters and teachers who have spent years in outstation districts and have less than a year or two to retire have not been able to return to their home districts because the final list has not been published. Even other Government employees get transferred, but nowhere do so many complications and complaints arise as in the case of school lecturer, Master and teacher transfers, Thakur added.
Thakur said that many of the complications can be avoided if Masters, Teachers transfers, and promotions are implemented first, followed by the general transfers of all cadres in the department.
