KISHTWAR, July 23: All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) under the aegis of Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), Kishatwar unit, celebrated Gurubandan Karyakaram, in which the teachers, students, eminent educationists and citizens participated.
Shaikshik Mahasangh celebrates Gurubandan programme during ‘Gurupurnima’ on the eve of Jayanti of Mehrishi Ved Vyas ji all over the country every year. The same programme was celebrated by the Kishatwar unit of the Federation.
The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp and showering flower petals on the pictures of Maharishi Ved Vyas, Saraswati and Bharat Mata by the key speaker. This was followed by song of the organization, sung by Pritam Singh, Addll District Secretary. Satyabushan Sharma, who was the organising secretary, highlighted the aims and objectives of the organisation.
Dr Permendra Singh, Senior Scientist SKUAST Jammu, who was the key speaker said that the main purpose to celebrate Gurubandan Karyakaram was to uphold and preserve the thousands of years old Indian Guru values, culture and tradition, which developed ancient India as a model society. Since time immemorial, the Gurus/Teachers/Acharyas always kept the nation ahead by giving effective education based on Indian tradition, culture and values, he added. “Due to the hard and tough work of our Gurus, India produced several Rishis and great personalities. Keeping in mind the values and great work of Maharishi Ved Vyas ji, we want to preserve this system,” he explained.
Quoting some Sanskrit couplets from Ramayana and Bhagwat Geeta, he explained d how Kulguru Vashisht and Mehrishi Vishwamitra imparted value oriented education to Raja Ram which made him Bhagwan Ram. He alleged that under a well planned conspiracy to destroy India culture, Maucalay’s policy was adopted by the Britishers, which is still continuing.
Dev Raj Thakur, who presided over the event, said: “We are respectable and responsible persons of society, we should work with full dedication, honesty, sincerity, zeal and enthuasism . This is the main motive behind the Gurubandhan programme.”
