JAMMU, Mar 4:  Expressing serious concern over certain recent incidents in Jammu region,   All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) has appealed the people of all the communities to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood.
In a meeting of  its core group held at Dogra Sadar Sabha here today to review the happenings of recent past in Jammu, AJCSF convener and former minister Thakur  Gulchain Singh Charak, stressed upon the need to maintain communal harmony in the State.  The meeting was deliberated upon by members representing all major communities, trades, and experts from various fields of defence, education, trade, commerce and industries.
Charak shared the grave concerns expressed by the members. He intimated the violent outburst of emotions of people at Kathua where he had gone to attend the last rites of Lt Madan Lal Choudhary, martyred at Sunjwan as the news of pro-Pakistan slogans reached the cremation site putting salt on the already painful bleeding wounds.  He denounced the politicizing of the inhuman and heinous crime against an innocent minor girl at Kathua. It is a mockery of coalition governance that while BJP ministers are demanding independent CBI inquiry the PDP ministers are opposing it. There is popular public demand for a CBI inquiry and everyone is demanding for true identification of the criminals and exemplary punishment to them.
Former MLC, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, expressed concern about the illegal settlements mushrooming in the close vicinity of the Amy camps on Government land in Jammu with obvious connivance of the Forest and Revenue staff while the Government seems to be looking the other way.
“Why not take Rohingyas to Srinagar if they have sympathizers in Kashmir valley”? asked some members.  Amanat Ali Shah,  president Anjuman-e-Imamia and some members decried the inefficacy of various agencies that failed to track the terrorists movement from South Kashmir to important Army installation at Jammu. Former DDC  GA Khwaja called it “a matter of serious concern the way Jammu is being targeted”.
Brig MS Jamwal Ex-Army Intelligence Corps called it a part of much bigger design to create panic and disturb life in Jammu, which has remained peaceful so far. Many constructions close to Army camps have high buildings which can be used for observation by miscreants, he pointed out.
Yash Paul Gupta, president FRAJ and  Neeraj Anand, president CTRJ said that business promotion and development need peace and security to prosper. Veteran warrior and defence analyst Col (Dr) Virendra K Sahi, insisted that the Sunjwan attack, the MLA, raising Pro-Pakistan slogans in Legislative Assembly and the efforts to give communal colour to the sad heinous but isolated crime in Kathua are all parts of a sinister design and need to be curbed with strong hands.
