POONCH MANDI, May 12: Terming rescue and relief operations as biased, former Member Legislative Assembly Poonch and senior National Conference leader Ajaz Ahmed Jan alleged that no attention is being paid towards Jammu areas, especially Poonch where people are facing flood situation for the last 6 months.
In a statement, Ajaz Jan said that neither any Minister visited Poonch nor the MLAs or MLCs are there among to share the sufferings of the people. He alleged that Poonch is being ignored and legislators are enjoying air conditioned accommodations at Jammu and srinagar. He said that people of Poonch are suffering for the last 5 months and Government has not even spoken a word over the sufferings of people.
Demanding immediate rescue and relief measures in Poonch, Ajaz Jan said that people residing near Abdullah Bridge, Betar Nalla, Khanater Nalla, Mandi to Chandak Nallha, Loaran, Arai, Sawijan and the peripheries of the Suran River are facing flood threat and they need to be rescued well in advance. He said that Met Department has predicted more rainfall for 48 hours so there is risk of more in the area and administration must take precautions to deal with the flood situation.
