Ajatshatru visits Jeo Pota, reviews development works

JAMMU, July 13: Member of Legislative Council and Ex-Tourism Minister, MK Ajatshatru Singh, today visited Jeo Pota, Akhnoor to review the development works undertaken by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu at and around the site where Raj Tilak of Maharaj Gulab Singh had taken place.
Singh accompanied by his son Raj Kumar Ranvijay Singh was received by Raj Tilak Celebration Committee, Akhnoor, prominent citizens of the town and the priest of Jeo Pota temple.
He paid tribute to the Moortis of Maharaj Ranjit Singh and Maharaj Gulab Singh, displayed in a large size magnificent Phalak, which was inaugurated by Maharaj Dr Karan Singh, former regent king and Sadar Riyasat on October 21,2010.
Chairman of Raj Tilak Road Celebration Committee, KP Singh briefed Maharaja Kumar Sahib about the annual Raj Tilak Diwas function being held on June 17 every year as State Foundation Day as well as Coronation Day.
He also discussed requirement of early establishment of Dogra library at that place for which MP Dr Karan Singh and Madan Lal Sharma have sanctioned funds. Dr Singh promised the Committee to provide books and literature for the library. He had also sanctioned solar lights for the Raj Tilak site to enable visitors to see the scene during night hours.
Later Maharaj Kumar visited ancient and famous Pandava cave at the river bank. He met the visitors and talked about the historical legacy of Jeo Pota. Singh also presented mementoes to Kuldip Singh Pawar and Pritam Singh Manhas, both members of Celebration Committee for their dedicated contributions towards celebration of Raj Tilak Diwas.
