JAMMU, Oct 1: Air Commodore Prashant Eknath Patange assumed command of the strategically important Jammu air base here today.
He took over the reins from Air Commodore Nitin Sathe, who has proceeding on posting outside the State.
After taking over the charge Air commodore Prashant said Jammu air base is an important station in the northern India and he will try his best to deliver his best during his stay here.
At a ceremony held here, Air Commodore Sathe commended IAF personnel of the station for their professionalism and dedication.
He expressed confidence that they would continue to work with the same zeal and dedication under the command of Air Cmd Patange.
Air Cmd Patange was commissioned in the flying branch of the Indian Air Force in December, 1984. An alumnus of NDA and a graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, he is also a qualified flying instructor.
Prior to taking over command of the Jammu air station, Air Cmd Patange was holding an important appointment at HQ Eastern Air Command.
A highly decorated officer, Air Commodore Patange has been awarded Yudh Seva Medal in 1995, Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) in 2000, Chief of Army Staff commendation in 1990 and has been twice commended by AOC-in-C commendation. He has also served as Air attaché in Ukraine during 2008-11.
