JAMMU, May 24: All India Lawyers Union (AILU), J&K unit has expressed strong resentment over the decision of the Chief Justice of J&K High Court whereby 92 years old practice of courts timings during summers in summer zone of Jammu province, has been given up.
After holding telephonic meeting of the UT Committee of AILU, its president, Advocate Hari Chand Jalmeria termed the decision as arbitrary. “The J&K has some peculiarities and culture of hundreds of years based on geographical, climatic, social and economic factors. Any modification or change, needs serious deliberations and consensus thereafter,” he added.
Jalmeria said that already much disturbance has been caused to lawyers during recent past work of registration of documents was shifted to Revenue officers and service matters shifted to CAT situated at Chandigarh and now another blow to the lawyers and the connected public when court timings are being changed.
The AILU president asked the Chief Justice to reconsider the decision and not cause another inconvenience to the lawyers and the public on this count.
