This is very strange that all major things happened to Jammuites in an abnormal way. There had been a very tough struggle in getting University, Engineering College, Medical College, Agriculture College and so on in 60s, 70s and onward. Now for the establishment of AIIMS, people of Jammu had to take agitational path.
Originally AIIMS was announced for Jammu but later on it was dragged to Kashmir. This was a serious attempt to create and generate stress in Jammu. Large number of people were on roads. Raja Partap Singh never showed any discrimination while ruling over-State. He made SP College in Srinagar and Princes of Wales College in Jammu. He brought Railway for Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgits is Kardu and Ladakh and not only for Jammu. Inspite of no help from any quarter, Hari Singh could not take up the Jammu Lake formation because of strain on Treasury and political disturbance.
Present agitation in Jammu on AIIMS issue is not discarded, but only defered for 30 days. This agitation has made serious effect on the minds of Jammuites that they should think twice before jumping into Arena. Those at the helm of affairs should not issue meaningless, utopian, un-fullfilled statements on public issues. These hurts the public sentiments. Situation has not gone out of the Control of AIIMS, although its momentum declined. Sometime retreat is necessary in order to organise in a better way to win the battle. People of Jammu have full faith in the leadership of AIIMS Coordination Committee.
