JAMMU, June 13: Coordination Committee’s chain hunger strike for restoration of AIIMS to Jammu entered 2nd day today.
Those who sat on chain hunger strike included JKHBA, Jammu, General Secretary, A P Singh, Joint Secretary, Depesh Singh Pawar, President, Young Lawyers Association, Daljeet Singh, Suhasni Vasisatha, Pradeep Majotra, S K Bhandari, V S Saini, Rahul Sharma, M S Qureshi, Neeraj Mengi, Vivek Sharma, Gurjeet Singh Wazir and Rajneesh Raina.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Abhinav Sharma, Chairman of the Coordination Committee, accused BJP ministers of issuing contradictory statements on the AIIMS issue to create confusion and weaken the ongoing movement.
“People of Jammu province had not voted for the BJP to get a raw deal,” Abhinav Sharma said, adding that the elected representatives from the region have let down their own constituencies by dancing to the tunes of their Kashmiri masters.
“The situation in the region would go out of hand like it happened in 1998 and 2008 if the insensitive authorities continued to remain indifferent towards the sensitivities of the people of Jammu region”, he said and expressed the hope that the authorities would take cognizance of the developing situation in the region without losing a moment and help maintain peace in the region by conceding the demands— establishment of AIIMS in Jammu and timely completion of Artificial Lake on River Tawi.
Retired Sessions Judge and Chairman, Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF), Pavitar Singh, former Member Public Service Commission, K B Jandial, M S Katoch, Sr Vice President CCI, Sham Langar, former CCI, President, Y V Sharma were among others who spoke on the occasion.
