JAMMU, July 9: As part of its ongoing mass mobilization programme aimed at educating public about the necessity of having All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jammu, AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) leadership today addressed civil society members at the Central Mahajan Sabha. The meeting was organized by All India Shiromani Pargal Biradari and was presided over by its president Vijay Kumar Pargal.
Addressing the civil society members, chairman of ACC and president of JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Gupta underlined the need for establishing an AIIMS in Jammu. He said it was announced for Jammu and it must be established as per the promise. He also reflected on the circumstances under which the ACC called off its 72-hour-long bandh call and suspension of the six-day-old chain hunger strike and said the ACC showed a goodwill gesture following the commitment Dy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat.
Chairman of the ACC also appreciated the statements made by Dy CM Nirmal Singh and prabhari of J&K Avinash Rai Khanna that an announcement on AIIMS for Jammu will be made as per the promise, but, at the same time, underlined the need to remain alert and active so that the authorities take the developing situation in the Jammu region seriously.
He told civil society members that the next 11 days are very crucial and we all have to pool our resources to make our genuine movement a success.
Others who addressed the meeting included Retd Sessions Judge and president JPPF, Pavitar Singh, general secretary and vice-president CCI, Arun Gupta and Deepak Aggarwal, Naresh Pargaal, vice-president of Pargaal Biraadri, president Shri Amar Kashtriya Rajput Sabha, Narain Singh, Prof Hari Om, K B Jandial (retd IAS), president, Lower Gummat Bazaar Association, Naresh Gupta, president AJKHLA, Inderjeet Khajuria, vice-president lower Hari Market Association, Bheeraj Pargaal and president Dalit Chetna Manch, Sham Lal Basson.
