JAMMU, Oct 4: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) Social today held a protest demonstration in front of the official residence of Social Welfare Minister, Bali Bhagat, and demanded implementation of Mandal Report in the State.
A large number of people belonging to OBC Category under the leadership of AIBCU president, Abdul Majid Malik, this morning assembled in front of the official residence of Social Welfare Minister, Bali Bhagat, and held a protest demonstration.
Holding banners and placards in their hands the protestors raised slogans against the Minister for his failure to mitigate the genuine demands of the State OBCs, which include enhancing creamy layer from 4.5 lakh to 6 lakh in J&K, renewal of OSC certificate on the basis of income certificate, a genuine rule for which creamy layer is the criteria and implementation of Mandal Report.
The protestors also demanded that there must be one and only one certificate on the name of OBC instead of OSC, which can serve the purpose for the State as well as the Central services. Later, they submitted a memorandum of demands to the Minister.
The protestors alleged that despite lapse of seven months of formation of PDP-BJP coalition Government in the State, Bali Bhagat, who is the Social Welfare Minister, did nothing for the OBCs. “His performance seems to be anti-OBCs, as he is following the footprints of the previous NC-Congress regime which looted the due share of the State OBCs since 1947 in general and since the Apex Court’s judgement of 1992 on Mandal Report in particular”, they maintained.
They asked the PDP-BJP Government to reveal its policy on the implementation of Mandal Report for which PM Narendra Modi had raised a loud voice during Lok Sabha elections and warned the Government particularly to coalition partner BJP to meet their demands failing which they will be forced to start a regular protest against the saffron party throughout the State.
