AIBCU criticises PM for not implementing Mandal report

JAMMU, Mar 21: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) today criticised Prime Minister for not implementing the Mandal Commission report following the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
They alleged that during the 2014 election, the PM had made promise to implement Mandal report in the J&K and the gullible OBC communities whole heartedly voted to BJP but after getting thumbing majority, they forgotten the same.
They said the expectations of the state OBCs were dashed to the ground when the Coalition Government of BJP-PDP passed two bills in March-April 2017 in which the Govt recommended three percent quota to Paharis speaking and 6 percent to upper castes but forgot the OBC who were demanding implementation of Mandal report (27 quota to OBC).
“Yet another jolt given to the J&K OBCs was the bill passed for the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A on 5th of August 2019 in the parliament with the assurance that 52 percent state population have belong to OBCs, would be more beneficiaries due to abrogation of the special act but following the abrogation of 370, the Union Government had implemented same Reservation Act of 2004, passed by the then treacherous rulers of the erstwhile state”, they asserted.
In this regard, a deputation of AIBCU met with Lieutenant Governor on December 30, 2019 and he assured us for the due share as per the constitution of Backward Classes Commission but nothing happened so far.
“The callousness on part of the Government can be gauged from this fact that the newly constituted Backward Classes Commission is headed by a non OBC Chairman while its two members are belongs to upper caste,” they alleged.
