JAMMU, Dec 4: A four- day Agri-Fest ‘Kairos-2’ commenced here today at the Chatha campus of SKUAST-Jammu.
The four-day festival, comprising quiz, literary, cultural and sports events, was inaugurated by Professor Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor and Patron of Agri-Fest. In his inaugural address, Prof Sharma appreciated the efforts of organizing committee and the students in organising the Agrifest. He emphasized that besides academics, such events are very necessary for the overall development of the student community as well as to strengthen the bond among faculty and students. He hoped that in near future, more such festivals will be organized in the university. He also laid emphasis on leadership and personality development.
On the first day of the fest, quiz, song competition, sports, and cultural activities were organised. Students from Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Basic Sciences actively participated in the events.
The programme is being conducted under the chairmanship of Dr D P Abrol, Dean Faculty of Agriculture. In his address, Dr Abrol informed that the festival was being organised in the Faculty of Agriculture to reward the talented students.
Dr T A S Ganai, Director Education and Convener of the Agrifest, Dr Parshant Bakshi, Co-Chairman, Dr Arvinder Singh, Organising Secretary, Dr Vikas Sharma, Press and Media Incharge, Dr Lakshmi Kant Sharma, Member secretary, Dr Sanjay Khajuria, Management Incharge and Ali Haider Shah, Co-organising Secretary of the event, also briefed about the Agrifest 2018.
Dr Rajesh Talwar, Registrar, Dr Deepak Kher, Director Planning, Dr M M S Zama, Dean Veterinary, S Iqbal Singh, Estate Officer, Dr R R Jat, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Joint Registrar Heads of the Divisions, Scientific staff and the non-scientific staff as well as students of both Agriculture and Basic Science Faculties were also present at the inaugural function.
