JAMMU, Feb 28: Continuing their protest, members of the Agriculture Employees Coordination Committee today held a demonstration-cum-dharna for posting of Technical Director from the department, instead of a Non-Technical one.
AECC – an amalgam of four organizations of the department , which represent all the employees working in the gazette and Non-Gazetted cadre, held a pen down, tool down symbolic protest upto 12 noon and a protest demonstration in the premises of Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu.
They raised slogans in support of their demand and vowed to continue the struggle till a Technical person is posted as Director of the Department. They urged the Government to immediately revoke its order number 184 (GAD) of 2019, dated 07-02-2019 and post a technical director from amongst the experienced and eligible Joint Directors of the Department.
While addressing the protest demonstration, chairman of AECC said that posting of Non-Technical Director was a violation of recommendation of sub group on agriculture development, according to which, the Department of Agriculture should be structured as a technical department and to be manned and headed by competent technical experts.
Moreover, he added, the Indian Council of Agriculture research (ICA) has recently issued a notification whereby UG course in Agriculture and allied subjects has been declared as Professional Degree Course and the Government should have taken a note of it.
He cautioned the Government that there was a hidden unrest and distress among the Agriculture professionals, who were already unhappy with almost denial by the Government in respect of promotions as per seniority and not holding of DPC under rules since long.
Others, who addressed the protest demonstration, included Surinder Radotra, Uttam Chand, Devender Singh, Rajesh Gandotra, J C Raina, S Jagdeep Singh, R K Sharma, V Ambardar and Vinod Sharma.
