JAMMU, Apr 4: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Managing Director of Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation and deputation of Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskratik Shodh Sansthan today called on Governor, N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan.
During their meeting, the Governor and the Agriculture Minister discussed certain issues relating to the functioning of the two State Farm Universities; reviewed the pace of implementation of various important schemes concerning the agriculture sector and the measures being taken for enabling the growers to be timely provided with seeds, fertilizers, other required inputs besides the latest technical know-how for enhancing agri-productivity and production in the State.
Other important issues relating to the speedy socio-economic development of the State also came up for discussion during their meeting.
Dr Nahed Soz, Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation briefed the Governor about the activities of the Corporation, particularly those relating to the formation of Women Self Help Groups and the support being provided to women to become economically self-reliant.
She thanked the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, for supporting Women Self Help Groups which have been sponsored by the Women Development Corporation for preparing Jute Prashad Bags for the Shrine Board. She stated that the support has generated very significant economic benefits for destitute women.
The deputation of the Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskratik Shodh Sansthan led by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri, Chairman of the Sansthan apprised the Governor of various demands which included early enactment of Hindu Temples, Shrines and Religious Places Bill and land being made available for the Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskratik Shodh Sansthan for setting up its Centre at Jammu.
The depuation briefed the Governor about the to-date status of the publication of the second part of the primer of Sharda language and thanked him for providing support for this purpose. It is pertinent to mention that Pt. Prem Nath Shastri Sanskratik Shodh Sansthan had brought out the first part of the colourful primer in Sharda script titled “Sharda Gyan” last year which was released by the Governor at a function held at Srinagar.
Interacting with the deputation, the Governor lauded the valuable work being done by the Sansthan in varied spheres.
