JAMMU, Dec 12: A three day Agri-fest “KAIROS”, commenced today at the Chatha campus of SKUAST, Jammu.
The event is a three day festival comprising literary, cultural and sports events. The programme is being conducted under the chairmanship of Dr D P Abrol, Dean Faculty of Agriculture.
The mega event was inaugurated by Professor Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor and patron of Agri-fest. In his inaugural address, the VC appreciated the efforts of students who have organized the whole event.
Professor Sharma emphasized that besides academics, such events are very necessary for the overall development of the student community and hoped that in the near future more such festivals will be organized in the university.
On the first day of the fest, debate, painting, youth parliament, rangoli making, quiz and collage making were organized. Students from Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Basic Sciences actively participated in the events.
In his address, the chairman of the Agri-fest, Dr D P Abrol informed the House that this was the first such Festival being organized in the faculty of Agriculture and assured the students for whole hearted support in such events and motivated students to actively participate in such events.
Dr T A S Ganie, Director Education and Advisor of the Agri-fest; Dr Prashant Bakshi, Co-Chairman; Dr Arvinder Singh, Organizing Secretary; Dr Vinod Gupta, Press and Media Incharge; Dr Lakshmi Kant Sharma, Management Incharge and Ali Haider Shah, Co-organizing Secretary of the event also briefed about the Agrifest 2017.
