LEH, Oct 21: Demanding to create Directorate in Leh District, staff of Agriculture Department staged protest dharna in front of their office here today.
Holding placards with demand to create Director’s post, the staff shouted “We want Justice, Agriculture Union Zindabad”. Alleging negligence against a vast public dealing office by not creating a Directorate post here in Leh, the staff said that their future is uncertain if directorate is not created soon.
One of the staff members, Shakil Mir said that Agriculture is one of the oldest and an important department here with 80% of the farmers directly associated with it. He said that department is in process of making Ladakh an organic region and such attitude of government will demoralise the staff to work towards sustainable development region.
Responding to a query he added that they will send recommendation to all concern and continue to protest if their demand is not fulfils.
Tashi Dolma, another staff member said that Ladakh remains cut off from rest of the country for six months and during that time people mostly depend on Agriculture Department and not creating Directorate is clearly injustice towards the people of this region. The employees sought intervention of Governor into the matter.
