Agri Deptt organizes one day training programme

JAMMU, Feb 14: Joint Director of Agriculture Extension, Jammu organized a one day training programme on Water Management in organic farming of vegetables  & Sustainable Agriculture for the farmers of Jammu Division under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sainchayee Yojna (PMKSY) which was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Jammu, Ashok Kumar Malhotra.
Speaking on the occasion, Malhotra advised the farmers to learn technical skills and scientific aspects of water management in organic farming of vegetables and sustainable agriculture. He asked them to follow the improved practices to increase their farm income and maintain soil health.
Malhotra also asked farmers to make use of every opportunity to get educated about different farmers welfare schemes and incentives to fulfill the mission of Government to double the farmers income by 2022. He further asked the farmers to diversify their farming through adoption of income generating ventures like organic cultivation of vegetables, vermicompost making and to produce more crops with judicious use of irrigation water.
Earlier H K Razdan, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension) in his welcome address briefed the participants about the aims and objectives of the training programme. He said that the organic framing aims at optimizing the use of on -farm resources along with sustainable use of natural resources.
Arun Makhnotra, DAO Extension Jammu and Scientists from SKUAST-J and other resource persons from the Department delivered lectures on water management, organic cultivation of vegetables, vermin compost making and sustainable production of agriculture crops.
The proceedings were conducted by Om Parkash Sharma, AEO and Surender Misri, SMS (RL) presented the vote of thanks.
Ravi Raman Raina, (AEO), Sandeep Dogra, JAEO and other officers of the Department were present on the occasion.
