Agony of aged

Sir,
First of October like previous year was celebrated as the “Senior Citiens Day”. The senior citizens once a part and parcel of hectic social activity are alienated and pass the twilight years of their lives in utter isolation, disease and poverty either in the niche of their nests or in old age homes.
This dream of celebration can turn into practicality, if the following suggestions are given concrete shape.
Firsty, these ignored souls should be provided better health facilities and also be provided medicare facilities in private hospital at cheaper rates after 65 years of age. Secondly, they should be  alloted flats in various parts of the country at subsidized rates so that they shall not become parasites for youngsters, who eke out their living by the sweat of brow, during these tough times by working from dawn to dusk. Thirdly, better facilities should be provided to them in old age homes, forgetting their alienation. Fourthly, these suffering souls be exempted from taxes for the money, they have saved for rainy days, after hard toil during the hey day years of their lives with honesty and dedication.
Lastly, as  per the fascinating remark of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister for Public Grievances and Pensions, about retired employees, “They are retired and not tired” is befitting and their talents should be utilized till the fag end of  their lives as every one has to grow old, sooner or later.
They need encouragement from youngsters and society to overcome their feelings of inferiority. If these suggestions are implemented in letter and spirit  It will  be a great serivce to humanity souls.
Yours etc…
