JAMMU, June 5: On 112th day of their ongoing chain hunger strike, the 10+2 Contractual Lecturers took out a protest march from Press Club and met Divisional Commissioner Jammu for seeking to know about fate of their plea, submitted earlier.
The Contractual Lecturers sought to justify their demand for regularization and also explained how their case was different from others and fit regularization as per Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of All Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
The Divisional Commissioner told the Contractual Lecturers that he would take up their case with the School Education Department for positive consideration as per their plea.
The meeting continued for around half an hour during which the Contractual Lecturers explained their position and sought to remove confusion on their case.
After coming out of the meeting, the Contractual Lecturers (10+ 2) Association president Arun Bakshi and press secretary Jeevan Kumar announced that the ongoing hunger strike will continue till logical conclusion.
Earlier, the agitating Contractual Lecturers marched from Press Club to Bikram Chowk and then to the office of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu. During the protest march, they were raising slogans in support of their demand and against the State Government.
In the morning, Ranjan Bala, Saroj Bala, Balvinder Kour, Sanjay Kumar and Javid Iqbal began their chain hunger strike.
