JAMMU, July 25: Continuing their hunger strike for the 162nd consecutive day, the agitating Contractual Lecturers (10+2) today announced to hold protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for highlighting their grievance.
This morning, fresh batch of Contractual Lecturers began their chain hunger strike after which a protest demonstration was held near the Press Club Jammu.  They raised slogans in support of the demand and also against the State Government. They also torched an effigy of the Education Minister and threatened to further intensify their protest if the Government does not concede their demand.
Zabir Hussain Shah, Guitar Choudhary, Neelam Sharma and Ranjan Bala began their hunger strike for the next 24 hours.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated Employees after rendering seven years of services.
While addressing the protest demonstration, president of Contractual Lecturers Association, Arun Bakhshi alleged that the in order to create confusion and weaken their case, the State Government was trying to issue new notification, which can’t be issued under rules because as per Civil Services Special Provision Act. 2010, there is a provision of restriction on appointments after 2010. “The department is itself is trying to violate its  own Government  order / Cabinet decision for spoiling  the carriers of the Contractual Lecturers,” he said and claimed that their case was genuine and fit for regularization as per the communications made by Commissioner Secretary  School Education in to the Speaker Legislative Assembly  Kavinder Gupta.
