JAMMU, Apr 4: Senior Advocate D C Raina, who was appointed as Advocate General of J&K in Governor Rule, today submitted his resignation papers. However, Government has asked him and his team to continue till further orders.
This morning, Advocate General called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan and informed him that he shall be putting in his papers later in the day. Mr Raina also briefed the Governor about certain important cases on constitutional issues, which are ongoing in the higher courts at Delhi.
He also apprised Mr Vohra about his appearance before the National Green Tribunal and about certain matters in regard to which he has advised further action by the concerned State Government departments.
In the afternoon, Mr Raina submitted his resignation mentioning that keeping in view the past practice and high tradition of the office of Advocate General he was putting in his papers so as to facilitate the political Government to appoint new incumbent.
However, Law Secretary, Mohd Ashraf Mir formally responded to the communication of Advocate General asking him to continue along with his team till a decision is taken by the Government in this regard or till some alternate arrangements are made in consultation with Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
Like Advocate General, Additional Advocate General, Kashmir Wing of J&K High Court, Moksha Kazmi also submitted her resignation this afternoon to the Secretary, Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
