After successful Jammu Bandh, CCI launches ‘Non-Cooperation Movement’

JAMMU, Apr 29: After successful “Jammu Bandh” on April 24, Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) has served 15 days ultimatum to Government for conceding their demands otherwise the traders would stop paying all kind of taxes.
“Taking forwards its agitation, business community through CCI served 15 days ultimatum to Government for conceding demands projected by CCI and if Government failed, traders will stop paying all kind of taxes”, said Rakesh Gupta, President, CCI, during a press conference here this afternoon.
He was accompanied by Arun Gupta, general secretary, CCI, Sham Lal Langar, senior vice president, Deepak Aggarwal, vice president, Ashu Gupta, treasurer and Rahul Mahajan, secretary.
He informed that CCI Jammu has decided to start “Non-Cooperation Movement” from today onwards, adding that the business community of Jammu will not cooperate with any of the Government Departments including Commercial Taxes, Provident Fund, Labour, etc seeking any information or documents of their business establishment.
Gupta stated that CCI has instructed all its members and affiliated associations not to entertain any officers or Inspectors from these departments visiting their premises till the demands projected by CCI are not redressed.
“Due to non-serious attitude of the Government and turning deaf ears towards our genuine demands, CCI has decided to take forward its agitation in support of the demands”, said Rakesh Gupta.
Projecting demands, he demanded rationalization of taxes and amnesty on GST recoveries.
Apart from CCI demands, Gupta also highlighted demands of Jammu region including delay in completion of the sanctioned projects like ISBT at Bus Stand, development of Mubarak Mandi complex, gandola, artificial lake, sanctioning of AIIMS at Jammu, sanctioning of the construction of fly over at BC Road and exemption of passenger vehicles from paying toll at Bantalab Nagrota.
For redressal of demands, CCI has also decided to form an umbrella “Fight For Jammu” of civil society members and invited eminent and people of integrity from all walks of life, various trade, industry and transport associations, social organizations and non political student unions to join this umbrella, he added.
