SRINAGAR, Apr 23: The School Education Department today ordered the attachment of the In-charge Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla with immediate effect.
As per a Government Order No. 159-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated April 23, Abdul Rashid Mir, who was also holding additional charge as CEO Bandipora, has been attached to the Directorate of School Education Kashmir.
The order, issued from the Civil Secretariat Jammu, stated that the decision has been taken by the competent authority and comes into force immediately.
It further directed that the Joint Director, Education (North) Kashmir shall look after the responsibilities earlier held by Mir, in addition to his own duties, until further orders.
An official said that the attachment of Mir was done for non-compliance.
This is the second such order issued in the last two months in which CEOs were attached. Earlier in Feb this year, the Government suspended Balbir Kumar, CEO Bandipora. He was also attached to the office of the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir.
Kumar had relieved (order No. CEO/Bpr/Estt/026/1277-82 dated 19-02-2026) 34 teachers who were originally from Gurez Zone and were temporarily deployed in various other zones of Bandipora district.
These teachers of Gurez zone were attached in the last one year since the taking over of the new Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while nine others were attached in the last 5 years.
As per the order of the CEO Bandipora, majority of them had been deployed in other zones of the district without any reason while the schools in far flung areas of Gurez are suffering due to acute staff shortage.
