SRINAGAR, Nov 4: As the Public Service Commission (PSC) announced examination schedule for the posts of Assistant Executive Engineers in Power Development Department, the aspirants are unable to prepare owing to lack of internet services and prevailing uncertainty.
The aspirants demanded that the authorities should postpone their written exams, scheduled to be held next month, and restore internet services in the Valley. “Since all the coaching centres are closed, internet is the only source to get study material. The authorities should restore internet services and postpone exams,” Marya, an aspirant said, adding that the situation is not conducive for the exams.
The aspirants said the region has been facing unpredictable situation for the last three months and that has affected their psyche. “We need some time to overcome what we had gone through in last three months,” Hadika, another aspirant said. He, however, asked: “why cannot they (authorities) wait for one more month? Are not they aware about the situation?”
Some of the aspirants, however, alleged that the process is being initiated to favor a few people. “People who have internet services and study material can easily qualify. The whole thing is being done to favor certain section of people. Authorities should consider the decision,” another aspirant said.
She added that although the coaching centres have resumed for some time, they are unlikely to complete the syllabus. “Leave revision, we won’t be able to complete our syllabus. I don’t understand the motive behind this injustice. I request them to look into the issue,” she added.
Despite repeated calls, PSC chairman, Lateef Deva, did not respond.
