Adopt social model of disability: Madan Lal to State Govt

JAMMU, Oct 6: Member Parliament, Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Madan Lal Sharma, today asked the State Government to adopt social model of disability, which he said, should be totally inclusive and disabled friendly.
He was speaking at a camp organized by State Trading Corporation of India in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti.
Sharma said that there should be full and effective participation and inclusion of disabled persons in the society and there should be respect for difference and acceptance of differently abled persons as a part of human diversity and humanity.
He called for inclusive education system, transport facilities, banks etc for ensuring equality of opportunity and accessibility to disabled persons and appealed the Government and NGOs to come forward and contribute in developing an inclusive atmosphere where every disabled person can live with full dignity and honour.
The occasion was marked with distribution and fitment camp of Artificial limbs, Polio Callipers and Tri-cycles at JRC Home for handicapped Udheywalla here today.
Appreciating the organisers for their support to disabled persons, the MP asked them to hold similar camps in border belts of Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts where lot of handicapped people are living and required such support.
He also met with the people and children and assured them full support in restoration of their rights.
Sharma also announces Rs 5 lakh for upgradation of Physiotherpy unit of JRC Home for Handicapped, Udheywalla.
