Adopt modern technology to improve prisons’ security: DG

JAMMU, Nov 14:  Annual Jail Superintendents Conference was held today at Kot Bhalwal Jail. The conference was organised by J&K Prisons Department.
The conference was presided by Director General of Prisons, K. Rajendra Kumar and attended by the Deputy Inspectors General of Prisons, Jail Superintendents, Prison Medical Officers and the staff of Prisons.
The Conference was organised with the aim for sharing the ideas for improving the Prisons Management System and providing opportunities for professional development of the correctional administration.
In his speech, Director General of Prisons emphasised the need to adopt modern technology for improving the security in the prisons as well as best prison practices.
Mr. Rajendra dealt in length with the essential of three R’s i.e. rehabilitation, reformation and reintegration of the prison inmates and the steps that are required to be taken for achieving the organisational objectives.
During the conference, power point presentations were made by all Jail Superintendents related to the working of their respective jails and imperative issues pertaining to the security and correctional services.
The presentations were followed by an open discussion on jail management, infrastructural requirements, recruitments, staff development, reformation and rehabilitation of offenders, health care, implementation of various judicial rulings, ministry of Home Affairs/State Government Advisories, fiscal, technical and legal issues.
